Accreditation

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued guidance regarding Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics and Supplies (DMEPOS) furnished by certain health care professionals and persons. The Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008 (MIPPA) required all DMEPOS suppliers to meet quality standards for Medicare accreditation by September 30, 2009. Regulations require DMEPOS suppliers to be accredited by one of the ten accrediting organizations in order to receive reimbursements from Medicare.

Respira Medical® achieved accreditation through a review of quality standards and received its accreditation award from Healthcare Quality Association on Accreditation (HQAA) on May 4, 2009. We continue to work closely with our accrediting organization to ensure our quality standards are maintained and our patients are receiving quality home care products and services.
